As Duke of Edinburgh recommended kit, the Vango Nitestar Alpha 450 is a tested piece that is excellent for multi-day treks and DofE expeditions later into the year. Made 100% out of polyester, the Alpha insulation lofts to maximise warmth, even when damp. The Mummy shape increases thermal efficiency as well as packing efficiency. While the warmth is great, the bag does fall down when it comes to pack size, not too much an issue when camping near your car, but for serious expeditions, where space is critical, a down bag may be a wise consideration.
